MONUMENT UNVEILING - Tuesday, April 14th at 9:00am
The monument to Lt Michael “Hootch” Hoosock and Officer Michael Jensen will be unveiled outside the entrance to Pass Arboretum near the corner of Salisbury Road and Avery Avenue. This unveiling is taking place on the 2nd anniversary of their deaths.
Family members of Lt Hoosock and Officer Jensen, dignitaries and members of the Syracuse Police Department and the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office will be seated or standing in the area immediately surrounding the memorial just outside the fence at the main Avery/Salisbury entrance to the arboretum. All other spectators are asked to enter Pass Arboretum through the Myrtle Avenue entrance or through one of the small entrances on Avery or Tompkins and walk toward the fence near the memorial space to view the unveiling ceremony. Wear proper footwear. It might be a bit muddy.
The ceremony, which is being directed by the Syracuse Police Department in cooperation with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, is expected to last approximately 45 minutes. After the ceremony ends, family members and other invited guests will be given the first opportunity to take a closer look at the memorial. We want to give them enough time to take the tribute in. When the area clears, everyone viewing from inside Pass Arboretum is welcome to tour the monument.
There would be no monument without your support. Be proud of the role you have played in this lasting tribute to Lt Hoosock and our Tipp Hill neighbor, Officer Jensen. We are very grateful for your support.
