Where: Bridgeport Sportsmans Club located on Bull Road in Bridgeport.
When: Two sessions .. 0900hr & 1000hr
You will need to bring the handgun you want to qualify with, a holster ( no shoulder holsters or behind the back holsters ), 25 rounds of ammunition, and hearing and eye protection.

SPD RETIREES DAY - DEC 3 (Thu)

Where: The Retiree’s Day will be held at the “new” PSB on W. Fayette St.

I’m reaching out to begin planning for this year’s Retiree's Day, which is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, December 3rd, from 0900 to 1400hrs
At this point, I’m hoping to get some input from this group on the event, as well as with any areas where you may be able to assist with planning of presentations. My initial thought is to hold the event at the New Public Safety Building, 1153 W. Fayette St. utilizing the classroom on the 3rd floor. To make parking easier for our retirees, I am thinking we would ask department members to park at 220 South Geddes Street for the day, allowing the retirees to utilize the PSB parking areas.
- Below is a preliminary run of show for the event. Nothing is set in stone, and I would welcome any suggestions or changes:
- .. 0900 – Retiree Arrival at the PSB (will be escorted up to the training room)
- .. 0915 – Breakfast and Informal Mingle Time
- .. 0930 – Welcome and Opening by Public Relations
- .. 0940 – Optional Tour of the New Facility Led in Groups
- .. 1045 – Chief Rusin Presentation
- .. 1100 – Robot Dog and Drone Demo in parking lot (sally port as a weather contingency)
- .. 1200 – Human Resources Concerns (updates and retirement/death updates)
- .. 1215 – Catered Lunch is Served
- .. 1300 – Joe Moran Presentation
- .. 1315 – Gift Presentation (photo of old PSB and possible departmental clothing item?)
- .. 1330 – Group Photo
- .. 1340 – Closing Q&A
- .. 1400 – Departure (provide escorts back to the parking lot)
Again, this is just a starting point. I’d especially appreciate any thoughts on additional presentations, logistics, or anything else that would make the day better for our retirees. If you have ideas, please let me know. I’d like to start pulling the pieces together soon so we can have a solid plan in place well ahead of December.
